Renee van Asten chose Ajax over Harvard. Two years later, she has joined Barça
The 19-year-old Dutch centre-back turned down the opportunity to study and play football in the United States to continue her development in Amsterdam. A serious knee injury delayed her arrival in the professional game, but she became a regular starter in her first senior season, scored on her Netherlands debut and was named the Eredivisie's best young player. Barça have signed her until 2030.
