Granada arrive after finishing sixth and winning the Copa de Andalucía. Madrid CFF begin the campaign with a heavily overhauled squad.
Madrid CFF host Granada at the Estadio Fernando Torres on Saturday. Granada finished sixth in Liga F last season with 45 points, while the Madrid side were ninth with 37.
Each team won one of their two meetings. Granada claimed a 1-0 victory in Fuenlabrada, while Madrid CFF won the return fixture 4-3 on the penultimate matchday after the sides went into half-time level at 2-2.
Both squads have changed considerably over the summer. Granada have made 14 signings and recorded the same number of departures, as well as replacing Irene Ferreras with Adrián Martín as head coach. Madrid CFF have brought in ten players following 11 departures.
Granada produced encouraging results during their preparations. They drew with Atlético Madrid, lost narrowly to Tottenham, retained the Copa de Andalucía and ended pre-season with a 2-0 victory over Real Betis.
Madrid CFF begin the season with a younger group that is still taking shape. Their new arrivals include Ana González, Kate Taylor, Débora Bebê, Raiderlín Carrasco, Jo Hye-young and Ailing Herrera. Jo and Mariana Silva will be unavailable as they are with South Korea and Colombia respectively ahead of the Under-20 World Cup.
Granada head into the opener backed by their pre-season results. Madrid CFF will hope that beginning at home helps their almost entirely new squad adapt quickly.
