Felicia Schröder, Real Madrid’s new forward until 2030
Some transfers reorder the narrative of a sport. Real Madrid’s move for Felicia Schröder may well be one of them. Neither club has disclosed the fee. BK Häcken have placed the deal above the previous record in women’s football; Real Madrid have confirmed the agreement without mentioning the sum. The Swedish forward signs until the 30th of June 2030.
She is nineteen years old — born on the 13th of April 2007 — and arrives off the back of a season she will struggle to surpass. In the 2025 Damallsvenskan she was the top scorer with 30 goals and claimed the award for best player in the league. She then took centre stage in the inaugural UEFA Women’s Europa Cup: she finished as the tournament’s leading scorer and crowned the campaign with a hat-trick in the second leg of the final, the match that handed Häcken the title. She made her senior debut for Sweden in May 2025.
Real Madrid bring in the most in-form forward in Europe over the past twelve months following the departures of Caroline Weir and Naomie Feller. Schröder arrives at nineteen with a Europa Cup in her cabinet and a fee her selling club place above any previous transfer in women’s football.
Anna Wellmann reinforces Eibar’s goal
SD Eibar have completed the signing of Anna Wellmann, a 31-year-old German goalkeeper joining on loan from Bayern Munich, where she has just renewed her contract until 2029 after a season at Sporting CP in Lisbon.
Wellmann is no stranger to European competition. In the Portuguese capital she played ten league matches — four clean sheets, eight goals conceded, a 79 per cent save rate — and also featured in the rounds of the UEFA Women’s Europa Cup. Sporting finished second in the Campeonato Nacional Feminino.
Her career has unfolded across several chapters: she started at Kaufbeuren, moved to TSV Schwaben Augsburg, joined Bayern through their reserve side, signed for Bayer Leverkusen (2019–2021) and Turbine Potsdam (2021–2023), returned to Bayern (2023–2025) and made the move to Portugal before re-signing with the Bavarian club and now heading to Eibar on loan.
The signing addresses Eibar’s most pressing need after Eunate Astralaga returned to Athletic Club at the end of her loan spell. Wellmann arrives with experience across three different leagues and the consistency of someone who has kept goal at Germany’s biggest clubs.
Laia Codina leaves Arsenal and signs three-year deal with West Ham
Spanish centre-back Laia Codina will not be continuing at Arsenal. The 2023 World Cup winner, aged 26, has signed a three-year contract with West Ham United, where she will be reunited with Rita Guarino — a manager she already knows from the season she spent on loan at AC Milan.
Codina leaves the Emirates with a solid record: 58 appearances across all competitions, the 2024 FA Cup and the 2025 WSL title in her honours list. Before that, at Barcelona, she collected seven trophies including three league titles and two UEFA Women’s Champions Leagues.
At West Ham she joins a project that Guarino has spent two seasons building in the top flight of English football. The Italian manager cited Codina’s “winning mentality” as the central reason for the signing.
Alexia Putellas: Mexico ruled out, the NWSL gains ground
There is still no official announcement, but the field is narrowing. Alexia Putellas has ruled out the Liga MX Femenil and is keeping two options on the table: the WSL, where London City Lionesses have been the frontrunners according to reports circulating for weeks, and at least one offer from the American NWSL. Those close to the two-time Ballon d’Or holder expect an announcement within days.
