FC Barcelona have extended Iara Lobo’s contract until 2028 and loaned her to Parma for the 2026/27 season.
The order matters. The Portuguese defender added two years to her deal before packing her bags, so the club has tied down the player it is lending out.
Parma announced the move the same day and described it as a loan “until the end of the season”. Neither club mentions a purchase option.
From a title-winning reserve side to Serie A
Lobo joined Barcelona in 2024/25 from Sporting CP and started out in Barça C.
This past season she established herself in the reserve side, playing 19 matches and winning the Primera Federación title.
She now swaps the Spanish second tier for the Italian top flight. Parma, promoted to Serie A in 2025, begin their league campaign on 26 September.
It is an unusually steep step up for a loan leaving a reserve team.
Three out and three in at the same reserve side
Lobo is the third player to leave Barça B this summer, after Natalia Escot, who signed for Espanyol in July, and Giulia Dragoni, sold to Chelsea three days ago.
The reserve side has been signing, too. Nikoline Nielsen, Julia Torres and Liv Pennock all arrived between February and March, registered with Barça B.
And it has promoted: Carla Julià moved up to the first team on 24 July.
The side that won Primera Federación will not be the one defending the title.
A Portugal international since the age of fifteen
Barcelona describe her as a Portugal Under-19 international. Parma add to the picture: she has played for her country at Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 level.
Born in 2008, she came through Ferreiras before joining Sporting’s academy.
Parma describe her as a full-back and rank her among the most interesting prospects in Portuguese football.
