Liga F enters the week with all 16 teams back at work, although more than a month remains before the competition begins.
Barça’s players report today for medical and fitness tests. Their first training session will take place on Tuesday, with the new season scheduled to begin on the weekend of 29 and 30 August.
For anyone who has switched off since the end of last season, these are the essential developments from a summer that is still far from over.
Barça and Real Madrid take on a new look
The champions have lost four of their leading figures. Alexia Putellas and Mapi León will play for London City Lionesses, Ona Batlle has joined Arsenal and Salma Paralluelo has signed for OL Lyonnes.
Barça’s rebuild has only just begun. Renee van Asten arrives from Ajax, Tyler McCamey strengthens the goalkeeping department, Martina Fernández returns after her spell at Everton and Carla Julià steps up to the first team.
The changes are just as significant at Real Madrid. Misa Rodríguez, Teresa Abelleira, Caroline Weir and Alba Redondo are among the players who have left the club. Lineth Beerensteyn, Andreia Jacinto, Elisa Senß, Felicia Schröder and Janou Levels are part of a new-look squad that will need to find new leaders.
Change spreads across the league
Atlético begin a new era with David González in the dugout, while Víctor Martín has left Madrid to take charge of Athletic Club.
FC Badalona Women have brought together two of the league’s most recognisable players. Vicky Losada returns to Liga F, while Lauri Requena joins a new club after 13 seasons with Granada.
The summer overhaul has been particularly extensive elsewhere. Espanyol have made 15 signings and Deportivo 12, while Granada, Eibar and Logroño United have also reached double figures.

Two new teams and plenty of summer still to come
Deportivo Alavés finished second in Primera Federación, behind a Barça B side that was ineligible for promotion, and secured the direct promotion place. Valencia claimed the second spot after beating Villarreal in the play-off.
The two promoted teams will face each other in Vitoria on the opening weekend. Real Madrid will host Atlético in the same round, while Barça begin their title defence against Costa Adeje Tenerife.
Away from the pitch, the clubs have also approved a €55 million investment led by Gasol16 Ventures and Fortified Partners over the next four seasons.
The squads are not yet complete. The registration window will remain open until 18 September, almost three weeks after the league begins. More signings, departures and friendlies are still to come, but the 2026/27 season has already started to take shape.
