As of 3 August, Liga F has eight Argentine footballers.
Six of them play for Logroño United.
Daiana Falfán, Justina Morcillo, Catalina Ongaro, Margarita Giménez, Milagros Martín and Francisca Altgelt share a dressing room at the Rioja club. Paulina Gramaglia, at Costa Adeje Tenerife, and Sofía Domínguez, a recent arrival at Deportivo, are the only two Argentines playing anywhere else.
Logroño therefore hold 75% of Liga F’s Argentine contingent. They have six players; the rest of the league has two between them.
The transfer window remains open, but this concentration is not the product of a single summer. The core has been assembled over the past two seasons and survived the squad overhaul intact: not one of the Argentines left the club this summer.
From two Argentines in the promotion season to six in the top flight
Justina Morcillo is the only one of the current six who was already at Logroño during the promotion season. She shared a dressing room then with Martina Del Trecco, who joined Red Bull Bragantino in July 2025.
The midfielder arrived in 2024 after spells at River Plate and Atlético de San Luis. She played her part in that season’s promotion and stayed on for the club’s return to Liga F.
Daiana Falfán followed in the summer of 2025. The Argentina international was returning to Spain after a brief earlier stint at Granada and a spell with Newell’s Old Boys. She became one of the most heavily used players of the survival campaign: she appeared in 28 of the 30 league matches, 27 of them as a starter, and clocked up 2,217 minutes.
The group grew during the winter transfer window.
Milagros Martín arrived on loan from Costa Adeje Tenerife. Margarita Giménez and Catalina Ongaro followed within days, reinforcing a side that had finished the first half of the season in the relegation zone.
Ongaro played 14 matches and scored twice. Giménez joined from FC Badalona Women and made her debut after the winter break. All three will continue this season alongside Morcillo and Falfán.
The sixth is Francisca Altgelt. The 20-year-old forward arrives from River Plate, the club that also produced Morcillo and Sofía Domínguez: three of the eight Argentines in Liga F came through there, and two of them have ended up in Logroño.
All six have been full internationals for Argentina. Falfán played at the 2023 World Cup and Altgelt at the 2025 Copa América.
Spain and Argentina form the base; ten more countries contribute one player each
The Argentine bloc is the largest concentration within a far broader squad.
Of Logroño United’s 25 players, nine hold Spanish sporting nationality and six Argentine. The other ten represent ten different countries: Austria, Brazil, Czechia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Dominican Republic, Ghana, Italy, Jamaica, the Netherlands and Uruguay. The Ghanaian, Comfort Yeboah, is currently at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with the Black Queens.
Europe, Africa and the Americas converge in a dressing room where the two main nationalities account for fifteen players and none of the others is repeated.
The count uses sporting nationality. Olufolasade Adamolekun was born in the United States and also holds American nationality, but represents Jamaica internationally. Mia Asenjo, born in New York, plays for the Dominican Republic.
The make-up of the squad coincides with the institutional overhaul that began when the ownership group led by the Argentine businessman Javier Ruffini took over. Since then the club have won promotion, secured survival and dropped the DUX identity to present themselves as Logroño United.
The new name is intended to place the city at the heart of the project. Around it, the club have built the most diverse dressing room in Liga F: twelve nationalities, with no other side going beyond nine. They also hold a concentration found nowhere else in the competition: six of the eight Argentines play in Logroño.
