Granada beat Sevilla in the Copa de Andalucía final at the Antonio Toledo Sánchez ground in Huelva — 1-1 after ninety minutes, 4-3 on penalties — and keep the trophy they won last year.
It is their third regional title, after 2021 and 2025, and it puts them level with Sporting de Huelva as the club with most wins in eleven editions.
And they kept it with a squad that is barely the same one. Fourteen players left in the summer — including all three who scored in the 2025 final — and so did the head coach. Fifteen came in, with Adrián Martín taking the bench.
The goal came from a player who was in the reserves in June
The deadlock broke on sixty-five minutes, and the two players who broke it have been in the first team for six weeks.
Granada won the ball high, Elene Guridi slid the pass through and Vera Molina beat Esther Sullastres one-on-one.
Guridi joined on loan from Real Sociedad on 27 June. Vera Molina did not join from anywhere: she was promoted from Granada CF B on 5 July. The final was settled, in her first tournament with the first team, by a player from the academy.
Sevilla hit the woodwork three times and equalised on 90+6
Sevilla arrived late, but they arrived.
Neither side threatened in the first half. In the second, just before the hour, a Laura Pérez corner ended up against the frame; their coach counted three efforts off the woodwork across the match.
And with stoppage time gone, Alice Marques equalised on 90+6 and took the final to penalties.
The shootout: two misses each way, and a save from the academy keeper
It started badly for Granada: Sullastres saved the first. The next four — Guridi, Miku, Raquel Gil and Jujuba — all went in.
Sevilla missed their first through Gemma and scored the next three through Isa Álvarez, Andrea Álvarez and Rosa Márquez. They reached the fifth needing it; Laura Pérez took it and Alba Ibáñez, Granada’s academy goalkeeper, saved it. 4-3.
The final was refereed by Josefa Sánchez Gómez, of the Andalusian committee, who booked Granada’s Leles.
«A slap that does us good before the league starts»
David Losada, the Sevilla head coach, took it as a warning with a date on it:
«I don’t think it was a good game. Granada deserved to win. These are slaps that do you a lot of good before the league starts. Our league isn’t beating Real Madrid 2-4, it’s getting through matches like this one against aggressive sides who press.»
The 2-4 he refers to is the friendly his side won on 8 August. Sevilla open their Liga F season on Saturday 29th at Riazor, at midday.
Granada start theirs the same weekend, with one more cup in the cabinet and with the feeling — this one they share — that pre-season is over.
