Granada beat Sporting de Huelva 2-0 at the Estadio Antonio Toledo Sánchez and will defend their title in the Copa de Andalucía final, played at the same ground on Sunday 16 August at 19:00 and shown live on RFAFtv.
Both goals came from players who were not at the club two months ago.
A missed penalty and two goals
In the 22nd minute the referee awarded Granada a penalty. Bárbara López put it over the bar.
Six minutes later Granada did score. Raquel Gil opened the scoring in the 29th.
The second arrived in the 82nd, with Sporting committed forward: centre-back Teresa Mérida got it.
All three of the night’s protagonists arrived this summer
Raquel Gil, 21 and from Valencia, signed for Granada on a free on 11 July at the end of her Alavés contract. She came through the Levante and Valencia academies, made her Liga F debut with the latter, and won the 2024 Under-19 Euros with Spain.
Teresa Mérida, who scored the second, is a centre-back, is 24 and joined from Levante on 14 July. She is from Jerez de la Frontera: she closed out the tie in a tournament in her own region.
Bárbara López, who missed the penalty, signed on 30 July from Madrid CFF, also on a free. Her 90th-minute goal had rescued a draw in Granada’s first friendly of the summer, against Atlético de Madrid.
The holders are no longer the same team
Granada are defending a title they won with a different squad and a different coach.
The three scorers of the 3-2 win over Sevilla in the 2025 final — Lauri Requena, Cristina Postigo and Sonya Keefe — all left this summer, along with ten other players. Irene Ferreras stepped down on 24 July for personal reasons and was replaced by Adrián Martín, until then her assistant.
In the 70th minute, with the tie still resting on one goal, Martín brought on Ana Martos, a forward from the reserve side.
The most successful club goes out on its own ground
Sporting de Huelva won the first three editions of the Copa de Andalucía and remain the club with the most titles: three, against two each for Granada, Sevilla and Betis. They have not reached a final since 2023.
They came into the semi-final across a two-division gap — they play in Segunda Federación — and three days after putting five past Córdoba in the preliminary round. They did so on their own ground, which is named after their coach, Antonio Toledo.
Their clearest chance came when they were already two down: a G. Koehler free kick in the 86th that the Granada goalkeeper tipped round the post.
Granada now wait for the winners of Sevilla v Málaga in the final, the second half of Wednesday’s double semi-final.
