Kalu Chinyere will not follow Levante into Spain’s second tier.
FC Badalona Women have announced the signing of the Nigerian midfielder from Levante, who were relegated last season. Badalona have not disclosed the length of her contract.
The 20-year-old will strengthen Marc Ballester’s midfield. Badalona have highlighted her physical strength, ball-winning ability and the balance she can bring to the middle of the pitch.
Kalu joined Levante in the summer of 2025 to initially form part of their reserve team, but later earned a place in the first-team squad. She made three Liga F appearances and played 103 minutes last season.
She already had experience in the competition. Kalu moved to Spain in October 2024 to join Real Betis on a contract until 2026. She appeared in nine Liga F matches during her first campaign but accumulated only 156 minutes.
Kalu has therefore played 12 games and 259 minutes in the Spanish top flight across her spells with Betis and Levante. Badalona will be her third club in Spain in less than two years.
Before moving to Europe, Kalu played for Martins White Dove FC, Osun Babes, Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons. She was also part of the Nigeria squad that reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 Under-20 World Cup and featured in their final group match against Canada.
Kalu is the eighth signing announced by Badalona this summer. She follows Vicky Losada, Txell Font, Izarne Sarasola, Lucía Martínez, Mirari Uria, Lauri Requena and Sheila Guijarro.
