Ajax stand between Real Madrid and the Women’s Champions League league phase.
Chelsea will do the same for Real Sociedad.
Tuesday’s draw in Nyon paired the two Spanish representatives with the Dutch and English clubs in the third and final qualifying round.
Real Madrid will visit Ajax in the first leg, scheduled for Wednesday 26 August. Real Sociedad will begin their tie away to Chelsea on the same day.
Both Spanish sides will complete their ties at home one week later, on 2 September. Kick-off times have not yet been announced.
Real Madrid entered the draw as a seeded club. Their opponents had to progress through the second qualifying round, which was played as a mini-tournament in Glasgow.
Ajax defeated Brøndby 2–0 in the semi-final before beating Rangers 2–1 in the deciding match. Sherida Spitse converted a penalty in added time to prevent extra time and send the Dutch side through.
Real Sociedad were unseeded and have drawn the top-ranked club from the seeded pot.
Chelsea enter European competition directly at this stage. This will be Real Sociedad’s second Champions League campaign and their first since 2022/23, when they also began with a tie against one of Europe’s leading clubs.
They lost both matches against Bayern Munich: 0–1 at Anoeta and 3–1 in Germany.
The five league path ties
Real Madrid, Real Sociedad, Ajax and Chelsea are competing in the league path. Its ten participants will contest five ties for five places in the league phase.
The full draw, with the first-leg home team listed first, is:
- Eintracht Frankfurt v Paris Saint-Germain
- St. Pölten v Juventus
- Wolfsburg v Inter
- Chelsea v Real Sociedad
- Ajax v Real Madrid
The two Spanish clubs could not be drawn against each other because the regulations prohibit qualifying ties between teams from the same association.
Three matches in eight days
Liga F will begin between the two European legs.
Real Sociedad are scheduled to open their league season against Logroño United on Saturday 29 August at 12:00. Real Madrid will host Atlético Madrid in the first derby of the season on Sunday 30 August at 21:00.
Both fixtures remain subject to possible changes because of UEFA club commitments.
The five winners will advance to the 18-team league phase, where Barcelona have already qualified directly.
The defeated sides will not be eliminated from Europe. They will transfer to the Women’s Europa Cup second qualifying round.
