Eibar hold the cup. Real Sociedad took all six league points off them last season.
The two meet again at Txerloia, in Azkoitia, on Sunday at 19:00 CEST — twelve months on from the final that settled the previous edition. This time the bracket has paired them a round earlier, so only one will travel to Irun on Wednesday to play for the trophy.
The Euskal Herria Kopa is a pre-season tournament for Basque clubs, now in its sixteenth edition.
The final Malen Uranga settled
On 24 August 2025, at the Joaquín Gastaminza in Alegría-Dulantzi, Eibar reached their first final in the tournament’s fifteenth edition and won it through a first-half goal from Malen Uranga.
Real Sociedad did find the net through Cecilia Marcos, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside. Eibar protected their 1-0 lead to the whistle and lifted the trophy for the first time.
The league said the opposite
Real Sociedad won 0-3 at Ipurua in October and 3-0 at Zubieta in January — six points, and a clean sheet in both.
That second scoreline flatters them slightly. Only one of the three goals at Zubieta was scored by a Real Sociedad player: Intza Egiguren, on 17 minutes. The other two were own goals, from Ane Etxezarreta on 79 and goalkeeper Eunate Astralaga on 88. The dominance was genuine; the 3-0, less so.
Eibar’s goals have one name on them
Uranga, who settled that final, left the club this summer. Eibar have scored three times in pre-season since, and all three belong to Carmen Álvarez: two in the 2-0 win over Atlético de Madrid B, the other in the 1-3 defeat by Madrid CFF.
They failed to score in their other two friendlies — 0-2 against SCU Torreense and 0-1 against Toulouse — and so arrive with one win and three defeats. This will be their fourth consecutive season in Liga F.
Real Sociedad have not lost since their opening game
Arturo Ruiz’s side also began with a defeat by Torreense. Since then they have drawn with Logroño United, OL Lyonnes and Deportivo Alavés, and beaten Osasuna 0-2.
That 1-1 with OL Lyonnes is the standout result of either side’s summer: the French club lost last May’s Champions League final to Barcelona. Real Sociedad’s five pre-season goals have come from five different players — Ainoa Campo, Arola Aparicio, Cecilia Marcos, Paula Fernández and Intza Egiguren — though three arrived in the Copa Sentimiento, a three-team tournament played in 45-minute matches.
The semi-final also lands ten days out from the serious business: on 26 August they play the first leg of the third and final Champions League qualifying round away to Chelsea, with the return on 2 September.
Three days until the next one
The tournament leaves no time to dwell on the result. The winners play again on Wednesday 19 August at 19:00 CEST at Stadium Gal in Irun, against Athletic Club, who saw off Alavés 3-0 in Amurrio on Saturday.
The losing side also play that day, against Alavés and half an hour earlier: the third-place match kicks off at 18:30 CEST at Basarte, the same ground as the other semi-final.
