One tie stands between Real Madrid, Real Sociedad and the league phase of the Women’s Champions League.
Spain’s two representatives in qualifying will learn their opponents this Tuesday in the third and final qualifying round. The draw will be held in Nyon from 12:00 CET and can be followed live on UEFA.com.
Real Madrid and Real Sociedad begin their European campaign in this round and will compete on the league path. Its ten participants will produce five two-legged ties and as many places in the league phase, where Barcelona are already directly qualified.
Real Madrid will be seeded. Real Sociedad will be in the pot of unseeded teams.
According to the club coefficients established at the start of the season, the Madrid side can be paired with Eintracht Frankfurt, St. Pölten, Ajax or Inter. Real Sociedad can face Chelsea, Wolfsburg, Paris Saint-Germain or Juventus.
The two Spanish clubs cannot meet, as the regulations bar ties between clubs from the same association in the qualifying phase.
UEFA published the full draw procedure on the eve of the ceremony. The document does not split the participants into groups, so the range of opponents for the two Spanish clubs stands.
Three matches in eight days
The ties will open on Wednesday 26 August and close a week later, on 2 September.
Liga F kicks off between the two legs.
Real Sociedad are scheduled to open against Logroño United on Saturday 29 August at 12:00. Real Madrid host Atlético de Madrid in the first derby of the season on Sunday 30 August at 21:00.
Both fixtures appear on the official calendar as subject to change due to UEFA competitions.
The winners of the ties will go through to the league phase. The beaten sides will continue their European season in the Women’s Europa Cup second qualifying round.
