Costa Adeje Tenerife Egatesa have tied down one of their hallmarks for the coming season. Koko Ange and Club Deportivo Tenerife Femenino have agreed a one-year renewal, meaning the pace, the dribbling and the charisma of the Ivorian winger will remain glued to the right flank of the blue-and-white side in the top flight.
This is no ordinary renewal. Ange Mariette Christelle N’Guessan arrived on the island in 2017/18 —when the club was still known as UDG Tenerife— from FC Barcelona, and she put down roots. Eight seasons, more than 220 official appearances and around twenty goals made her one of the most beloved figures both in the dressing room and on the terraces. Before Tenerife she had played for Gintra in Lithuania, Anorthosis in Cyprus and Barcelona itself, and she had featured at the 2015 World Cup in Canada with Ivory Coast, where she scored twice in three matches.
Her story with the club, however, came with an interlude. In December 2024 she said a tearful goodbye at the Municipal de Adeje, in a Copa de la Reina tie against Barcelona, after accepting an offer from Al-Ula of Saudi Arabia. “Tenerife will always be my home. I’ll be back,” she promised then. And she kept her word: the club announced her return at the start of the 2025/26 campaign, barely nine months later. In this second spell she has already racked up more than 600 minutes in Liga F, two goals and two assists.
”This team is like my home and my family”
Sporting director Jordi Torres underlined the player’s importance to the day-to-day life of the group. “Her renewal makes me proud because she has always been a role model,” he said, before praising her experience and her character: “It’s a pleasure to have her around every day; she creates a very special atmosphere.”
Koko herself made no secret of her joy at staying on the island. “I’m very happy, this team is like my home and my family,” said the winger, who takes on the coming season with ambition: “We’ll keep fighting to maintain this season’s level and to show that Costa Adeje Tenerife has quality.”
With her continuity secured, Yerai Martín’s system gains directness and experience in the final third. The path Koko Ange began tracing at Tenerife in 2017 adds another page: that of a club still building its present on the figures who are already part of its history.
