Liga F’s clubs approved the commercial investment agreement led by Gasol16 Ventures at an extraordinary general assembly on Monday.

The result was first reported by journalist Sandra S. Riquelme before Liga F published its official statement.

The agreement received the two-thirds majority required for contracts that commit Liga F for more than two seasons and involve consideration exceeding 20% of the organisation’s budget for a single financial year.

The €55 million agreement is led by Gasol16 Ventures, Pau Gasol’s investment vehicle, alongside Fortified Partners. It is the first time Liga F has publicly identified the second participant, whose precise role in the deal has not yet been disclosed.

Four seasons and three stated objectives

The funds will be disbursed over four seasons.

The agreement has three main stated objectives: strengthening Liga F’s commercial and operational structure, supporting the growth and long-term sustainability of the competition and its clubs, and raising the profile of its players.

The clubs were also presented with updated viewership figures during the assembly. According to Liga F, the competition reached 7.5 million viewers, an increase of 11.2% on the previous season.

The process to market the competition’s broadcast rights for future seasons will also begin in the coming days.

Following the approval of the commercial agreement, the clubs also gave the green light to Liga F’s budget for the 2026/27 season.

What remains unclear

The official confirmation answers some of the questions surrounding the agreement, but it does not yet reveal its full structure.

Liga F has not explained how the €55 million will be divided between its central organisation and the clubs, what Gasol16 Ventures and Fortified Partners will receive in return, or what commercial, economic or governance rights will accompany the investment.

It has also not clarified how the new project will coexist with the existing agreement under which LaLiga remains Liga F’s exclusive commercial agent until at least the end of the 2026/27 season.

The competition has not published the exact voting figures either. The reference to a two-thirds majority confirms that the agreement reached the statutory threshold, but does not establish whether the vote was unanimous or whether there were votes against or abstentions.

Pau Gasol and Beatriz Álvarez to present the agreement

Pau Gasol and Liga F president Beatriz Álvarez will hold a press conference on Tuesday, 30 June, at 4.30pm to present the agreement.

The press conference should provide greater clarity on how the funds will be distributed, what role the investors will play and what they will receive in return for their contribution.

The clubs have already said yes to the €55 million. Liga F must now explain precisely what they have approved.
