Costa Adeje Tenerife return to the island to face Atlético Madrid in the women’s Trofeo Teide final.
The match takes place this Saturday, 15 August, at the Estadio Municipal Los Cuartos in La Orotava. It will be Tenerife’s fifth test of pre-season and their only match on the island before the Liga F campaign begins.
Yerai Martín’s side are unbeaten in their four friendlies. Atlético are continuing to build under David González.
When is Costa Adeje Tenerife v Atlético?
The match kicks off at 18:15 in the Canary Islands —19:15 in mainland Spain and 18:15 in the UK— at the Estadio Municipal Los Cuartos.
Televisión Canaria will broadcast the final live on its free-to-air terrestrial channel. The match will also be available free of charge on the RTVC Deportes YouTube channel, the rtvc.es website and the Canarias Play platform.
RTVC’s match listing states that the stream on rtvc.es will be geo-blocked outside the Canary Islands.
Carlos Bilbao will provide commentary, accompanied by Laura Castro.

Tickets cost eight euros
The final can also be watched at the stadium.
The official Trofeo Teide website is selling adult tickets for €8, while admission costs €2 for children aged between four and 12. Children aged three and under can attend free of charge.
Tickets are also available from designated sales points in La Orotava, Los Realejos, San Juan de la Rambla and Puerto de la Cruz, as well as from the Los Cuartos ticket office on matchday.
The stadium has an approximate capacity of 4,000.
Anyone who misses Saturday will have to wait three weeks to see the team on the island again. Costa Adeje Tenerife open their Liga F season on 30 August away to Barcelona and do not play at home until the second round: Sunday 6 September at 13:00, against Deportivo at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López.
The women’s final has been part of the tournament since 2015
This year marks the 54th edition of the Trofeo Teide. The tournament was founded in 1971, with its opening match also serving to inaugurate the natural grass pitch at Los Cuartos.
The women’s final was introduced in 2015 and has since featured clubs including Barcelona and Deportivo de La Coruña.
Costa Adeje Tenerife will attempt to lift the trophy for the third time. They missed out last season.
For Aithiara Carballo, the occasion also represents a personal homecoming. She was born in La Orotava, grew up playing at Los Cuartos and missed last year’s edition through injury.
“It is very special to play in front of your family, your friends and the people who watched you grow up,” she explained in the club’s match preview.
Tenerife have won three matches outright and another on penalties
Costa Adeje Tenerife remain unbeaten in pre-season.
They began with a 1-1 draw against Espanyol at the Torneo Fuerteventura Futfem before winning the trophy in a penalty shootout. Tenerife then defeated Sevilla 1-0 to claim the Torneo de San Ginés.
Their training camp in Navarre produced another two victories. Aithiara scored the only goal against Athletic Club before the team completed their stay with a 2-1 win over Deportivo Alavés.
Their record stands at three victories in 90 minutes and another on penalties, and their coach takes away what each one demanded. “Every match has demanded something different from us and we have learnt and improved in each one. On Saturday we have another chance to keep growing,” Yerai Martín said.
He also assessed how the new arrivals have settled: “The new signings have adapted perfectly and that has made it easier for us to try different systems. The first month has been very good; now we have to keep getting to know each other and working.”
Atlético are the first opponents Tenerife will face this pre-season who finished in the top five of last season’s Liga F, and the last side they will meet before their planned trip to Agadir.
Atlético beat Charlton 1-0
This is Atlético’s first pre-season under David González, with Amanda Sampedro part of his coaching staff.
The team defeated Charlton Athletic 1-0 through a Synne Jensen header and drew 1-1 with Granada. The club’s fixture list includes one further friendly after the Trofeo Teide: they travel to London to face London City Lionesses on Sunday, 23 August. One week later, they begin their Liga F campaign away to Real Madrid at the Alfredo Di Stéfano.
The match in La Orotava will provide another opportunity to see how new signings such as Allegra Poljak and Celia Segura are settling in before those two fixtures.
Yerai Martín is not expecting a comfortable friendly. “We are facing a side who are under an obligation to have a good season, and they will certainly be working towards it. We expect a very close game in which Atlético will push us to the limit,” the Tenerife coach said.
Tenerife finished above Atlético, but were eliminated by them in the Copa de la Reina
The two teams met four times last season, and the Tenerife dressing room has not forgotten it. “We are two teams who faced each other four times last season. We know each other well, but both squads have changed, so we have to take this on with real appetite,” says defender Elba Vergés.
Costa Adeje Tenerife finished fourth in Liga F with 54 points, three more than fifth-placed Atlético. Tenerife were unbeaten in their two league meetings, winning 2-1 at the Heliodoro before drawing 2-2 in Alcalá de Henares.
The Copa de la Reina was a different story.
Atlético won each leg of the semi-final 1-0 and advanced to the final with a 2-0 aggregate victory. Gio Garbelini decided the first leg before Synne Jensen scored at the Heliodoro in the return fixture.
The Trofeo Teide will be the fifth meeting between the teams in less than nine months. It will not carry the same stakes as the previous four, but it will once again bring together two sides separated by only one position and three points in last season’s Liga F table.
“Last year we could not win it, but this year we want the Trofeo Teide to stay at home and get that thorn out of our side,” Vergés says.
